Cormack & Margaret’s Colorful September Wedding at Camp Lakota in Defiance, Ohio
Some wedding days just feel joyful from the moment you arrive, and Cormack and Margaret’s September wedding at Camp Lakota in Defiance, Ohio was absolutely one of those days.
The sun was shining, the weather was perfect, and Camp Lakota created such a beautiful and whimsical setting for their celebration. From the natural surroundings to the vibrant colors woven throughout the day, everything came together in a way that felt completely them.
One of my favorite things about Cormack and Margaret’s wedding was simply how HAPPY everyone was.
Family and friends traveled from multiple states — and even multiple countries — to be there to celebrate them. There was such an incredible energy throughout the entire day. Laughter, hugs, happy tears and genuine excitement seemed to be everywhere I turned.
As a wedding photographer, these are the days I love capturing most. Of course, I want to create beautiful portraits for my couples, but I also want to preserve everything happening around them... the reactions, the relationships, the little glances and all of those moments they may not even realize are happening.
And there were plenty of those moments at this wedding.
The colors throughout Cormack and Margaret’s wedding were absolutely gorgeous.
Their vibrant florals stood out beautifully against the natural surroundings at Camp Lakota in Defiance, Ohio, bringing so much life and personality to their wedding photos. I loved the contrast between the whimsical outdoor setting and all of those rich, joyful colors.
It was one of those wedding days where there was something beautiful to photograph everywhere you looked.
But one of my favorite things to photograph all day?
Cormack’s face.
The way he looked at Margaret throughout their wedding day said absolutely everything. There was so much happiness and excitement written all over his face, and those are the expressions I’m always watching for behind my camera.
Cormack and Margaret’s wedding was such a good reminder of why I love what I do.
A wedding gallery should show you what your day looked like, but I also want it to remind you exactly how your day felt.
The color. The excitement. The people who traveled hundreds — or thousands — of miles to be there. The laughter between friends. The little looks between the bride and groom. The details you spent months planning and the moments you never could have planned.
Those are the things I want my couples to see when they open their wedding gallery years from now.
Cormack and Margaret, thank you for allowing me to be a small part of such a beautiful, colorful and joy-filled celebration. Your September wedding at Camp Lakota was one I absolutely loved getting to capture. 🤍
