Killeen Wedding - The Lodge at Camp Red Cedar

If you would’ve told me last year that I’d have several winter weddings on my calendar this year, I probably would have laughed and told you that you were crazy. But here we are.  Winter is in full swing, and wouldn’t you know it, I have several weddings this season. And let me tell you, my very first winter wedding of the year did not disappoint one bit.

This season itself has been a bit of a surprise. We usually only get a light dusting of snow before January, but this year several inches had already fallen since November, creating the most beautiful winter backdrop. It could not have been more perfect for a wedding at the Lodge at Camp Red Cedar. The snow-covered trees, crisp winter air, and cozy lodge atmosphere set the tone for such a meaningful and magical day.

There is just something truly special about a winter wedding.  The extra glow from intentional lighting, the rich and bold earth tones, and the depth of the color palettes. All of those elements stood out so beautifully against the white winter wonderland surrounding the lodge. It felt warm, intimate, and timeless all at once.

I had the chance to spend time with Ethan and Madison back in the spring during their engagement session. While I’ve known Madison and her family for years, that session was my first time meeting Ethan. From the very beginning, it was clear that both individually and even more so together, they are two of the kindest, sweetest people you could ever meet. Working with them throughout this season has been such a joy, and their wedding day was no exception.

Hands down, I think everyone’s favorite moment of the day was their grand entrance into the reception. As Ethan and Madison walked in, their family and friends quickly realized something was different... they had both cut their hair between the ceremony and the reception. I heard numbers like eight inches being tossed around, so I know a significant amount was cut from both of them in order to donate it. The looks of surprise and excitement on everyone’s faces made it a moment none of us will forget.

This wedding was the perfect way to kick off my winter wedding season and a beautiful reminder of why winter weddings hold such a special kind of magic. Ethan and Madison, thank you for trusting me to capture such a meaningful day. It was truly an honor to be part of your story.
